Can't believe Christmas has been and gone and here we are mid Febuary already !!
I am going to add some of the cakes to the gallery that we have made over the last few months. There certainly have been some challenges in the kitchen. Our clients and staff have been really thinking outside the square and have designed some great cakes.

Can't believe that it was May last time I put up a blog..so much has happened, so many different cakes. There just hasn't been enough hours in the day to keep you updated with all that is happening in our kitchen.
I am updating the photo gallery so check out our latest cakes, remember that you can also combine several ideas to create a cake to best reflect your individual personality.
Feel free at anytime to email for a quote on the cake of your dreams or we can design that 'special' cake for you. Email: [email protected] or fill out the form on our web page and we will get back to you asap.

March is proving to be a huge month with a Wedding, several Birthdays and Business functions needing cakes.
I have attached pictures of one of our 21st cakes this month. It features an X Large Cupcake made from Dark Chocolate mudcake, vanilla buttercream and decorated in fondant. The cupcake stand ( which is available for hire ) was filled with an assortment of flavoured cupcakes. Mango, Orange, Peppermint and Banana. They were decorated with lollies, mint sticks and edible images. The edible images were placed onto chocolate discs.
We love using edible images as they add a personal touch to the cake and are a great talking point for the Host and their guests.

We have just finished and delivered a cake to Adelaide South Australia for Austral Bricks. The cake was chocolate mud cake and decorated in the company logo using edible ink printed on a icing sheet. We were very pleased to hear they enjoyed their morning tea ! Here at Kristin's Kakes we are able to reproduce any company logo to be used to decorate cakes, cupcakes or biscuits. Ideal and unique way of promoting your company or special event. We have also done other corporate cakes, one example are those sent to Datacom in South Australia, they gave each of their clients a boxed Christmas cake with their logo and a personal Christmas greeting. So when you next want to promote your company, just email [email protected] and we will design a cake for the occasion
Had better get back to the kitchen now, a 40th Birthday cake is ready to have the final decoations added...

Our son Simon turned 21 this month, so I thought I would share his birthday cake with you. He has always been a great 2 minute noodle fan and at the local noodle box only ever ordered 16 no veg - so what better way to celebrate his birthday than with a bowl of noodles and the wording '21 (for his age) no veg'

A lot of cakes were made this week with some clients only giving us a few days notice...we made a 21st cake for a very rural young lady - the job description was farmer, Elders ( she won a scholarship with them) and her favourite news paper. I felt though we also needed to show her femine side and added a few glamour items ...this was the end result.OOn the Akubra we put wheat in the leather band and it was joined with a diamonte buckle...just to add yet another femine touch.TThe wheat, necklace, newspaper all made from fondant. The cake is mabled milk and white chocolate with vanilla buttercream.

It has been a while since I have last posted pictures of my cakes, the oven has been on non stop ...
I have had many varied cake requests each one with their own challenges.
This cake was for a farmer, so it called for a bale of hay, an Akubra hat and a note to 'mum' saying he had downed tools for the day and gone fishing !
Then there was 9 year old Pheonix from Adelaide, who just loves his Dad's tractor so mum sent a photo and a replica was created..

Just returned from 2 weeks at the Tamworth Country Music Festival - we all had a great time and saw many great artist perform as well as some artists that maybe should have chosen another career path.
Now it is time to turn the oven back on and get into the baking.
February is going to be a huge month with Valentine's Day and many Birthday cakes to design and create and of course my regular orders of cupcakes for the local take away store.
I will post pictures as I produce each cake.
